Bonding With New Family

The question we get asked the most is whether a puppy, who has gone to training directly from the breeder, will bond with their new family. The answer to that question is a resounding YES!!

While we do spend a great of time teaching your puppy all of the basics, we are just that. The teacher. Of course they get cuddles and love, but our main focus with each puppy is instruction. We are always working with them, establishing respect for all humans and other animals. Just like with children, there can be affection towards their teacher but the interaction between a child and a teacher is different than that of a child and a parent. Emotion plays a big part in bonding as well. As trainers, we need to leave our emotions outside of our training or we would never be able to do what we do. Puppies pick up on those differences immediately. I’ve personally witnessed it every single time a family gets to visit with their puppy or the day they get their puppy after training.

A recent visit with a family is a perfect example. I took a puppy over to a family for a visit after 4 weeks of training. The puppy immediately gravitated to the owners. She could have cared less that I was there after realizing that they had treats and were giving her attention. The same happened when another puppy went on a visit with me as I was doing a Trainer on Call visit. Keep in mind, this puppy did not belong to this family. The puppy couldn’t get enough of the children. It was like I wasn’t even there and this puppy had been with me for almost a month.

In all of the years we’ve been providing puppy board and train, we have never had a puppy not bond with their new family right away. So rest assured, your puppy will come home to you full of love for your family and hopefully, with our guidance, you will be more at ease and full of love for him/her!
